Travel and Tourism Industry Expo with The International Travel College
The 2005 ITC Industry Expo – where the employers come to the students!!
The annual ITC Industry Expo is a great opportunity for students to meet with representatives from New Zealand’s travel and tourism industry and this year’s Expo was another huge success!
For one day each year, the college is transformed into an Expo site and companies representing all sectors of the travel industry are invited to showcase their product to ITC students.
Students have the opportunity to hear first hand product information from current industry professionals. Presenters at this year’s expo covered all sectors of the industry from hotels to airlines, from tour companies to adrenalin activity operators.
“It’s so helpful for our student to have these presentations build a bridge between our course content and the industry. Being able to really “see” themselves at work in the industry is a great motivator for them.” said Jill Quigley, Careers Advisor and Expo organiser.
Presenters this year included Air New Zealand, Langham Hotel, Go Holidays, Vertigo, Magic Travellers Network, Strategy Recruitment, Atlantic Pacific Radius, Avis & Budget Rental Cars, Auckland Adventures, International Exchange Programs and Fullers Cruises. Industry feedback praised our students’ enthusiasm, presentation and professionalism.
Ebeny Kurz from the Langham Hotel said, “I was very impressed with ITC students, great diverse bunch of eager students”.
Our students thoroughly enjoyed the day too. “The presenters were very thorough and gave me all the information I was wanting to know” said one. “I can now see how many fantastic opportunities are out there and look forward to grabbing one in my future!” said another.
“It was so great, please give us more!”
And that’s just what we intend to do. We’re already planning Expo 2006. See you there!
