Record Harry Potter Pre-Sales At The Warehouse
Auckland, 13thJuly 2005. The Warehouse's promise not to be beaten on price has seen the retailer score record pre-sales
of the latest Harry Potter book which goes on sale at 11.01 on Saturday morning.
With three days still to go The Warehouse has already exceeded total pre-sales for the previous Harry Potter book by at
least 30 percent and pre-order cards are continuing to be snapped up. Pre-ordering at The Warehouse not only guarantees
customers a copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, it also gives them a chance to win a $100 Warehouse gift
voucher. There is $10,000 worth to give away.
Corporate Affairs Manager Phil Jamieson says The Warehouse has made a commitment to customers to offer the best price on
the new Harry Potter book. "As a company we have made a strategic decision not to be beaten on price, so we won't be
revealing our sale price until sales begin at 11.01 on Saturday."
The sale price will be announced via in-store public address systems across The Warehouse's 85 stores when sales
commence.
Security arrangements surrounding stock of the new book are extremely tight. Mr Jamieson says, "All copies of the Harry
Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be kept in secure storage and in line with legal requirements. We will all see the
book for the first time when the magic unfolds at 11.01."
Pre-order customers are reminded that they need to present both their Magic Gift Card and proof of purchase receipt to
redeem their copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
Total New Zealand sales of the five previous Harry Potter titles have topped a million books to date and The Warehouse
expects a further flurry of pre-ordering as the week progresses.
