New Zealand WineGrower Marks A New Era
The next issue of New Zealand WineGrower, due to be published in August, will mark a new era for the magazine.
This will be highlighted by two new directions:
- Increased frequency - It will now be published six times a year, in the months of August, October, December, February, April and June.
- New commercial publishing partnership - The magazine will now be published by Rural News Group, a New Zealand owned and operated company, in a partnership agreement with New Zealand Winegrowers, who will continue to own and distribute the title.
Rural News Group general manager David Anderson says grape growers and winemakers, and everyone associated with the industry, will be kept abreast of important developments in vineyards, wineries and markets via the magazine.
“New Zealand WineGrower will retain its place as the official journal of the grape and wine industry and the first national magazine to serve, inform and involve industry people. It will develop more strongly as the journal of wine people, by wine people, for wine people.
“The only noticeable change – apart from a great, new modern look and increased frequency – will be the running of the magazine’s commercial arrangements,” Anderson explained.
“Rural News Group (RNG) has taken over the role of publisher and will also be responsible for selling advertising. We’re delighted to have well regarded sales person Ros Sellers come on board as the new advertising manager and New Zealand WineGrower’s founding editor Terry Dunleavy has been retained as the magazine’s editor.”
Anderson says Rural News Group has a long and proud record in the agricultural publishing sector and NZ WineGrower was a logical addition to its stable of titles. The company already publishes the fortnightly agribusiness newspaper Rural News, monthly dairy publication New Zealand Dairying Today and the highly regarded New Zealand Geographic magazine.
“For suppliers to the grape and wine industry in New Zealand, New Zealand WineGrower will continue to be the advertising medium of first choice,” Ros Sellers explains.
“Not only because it is the oldest and most authoritative journal in this field, with the widest and deepest reach. But because it is the journal owned by the industry people through their national organisations – it is the wine industry’s magazine, they own it.”
“We can assure everyone involved in the wine industry; wine aficionados, advertisers and suppliers, New Zealand WineGrower will continue to be the premier source of information, satisfaction and pride to all,” adds editor Terry Dunleavy.
