More FM's Outstanding Community Campaign

Auckland, a city of over a million souls ,wakes up every morning to the kids, the dog, the hustle, the food ,the traffic, the smells and the sounds of a million people all getting up and all going somewhere.
So what does an Auckland day look or sound like?
In the 4 minutes it takes us to order a cup of coffee, a family living in poverty will ask for a food parcel.
In the 8 minutes it takes us to skim the Herald, another family referral will be made to Child Youth and Family Services.
And every single minute, thousands of kids who are the one in three kids that live in poverty, will set out for school without any lunch.
And in every minute, of every day, of every week, of the year, an Auckland Radio station, 91.8 More FM, gives another charity $3.00 worth of free airtime. Adding up to an estimated $1.4 million dollars a year.
Raising Aucklanders awareness of issues ranging from Aids to Hearing Dogs to the Arts, MORE FM Auckland has recently been awarded, for the second time, the Outstanding Community Campaign Award, a radio industry award that acknowledges the station that has most consistently contributed to the community through the year.
Interestingly the station has also just picked up the Best Place to Work in New Zealand Award as well.
Why do they do it?
“Radio has such a unique and valuable role to play. Simply it gives a voice to hundreds of charities that otherwise would not have one. To see radio station give the equivalent $3.00 every minute is inspiring” said Jude Mannion CEO Robin Hood Foundation.
