Hooker blacks out Hamilton shopping centre

Yes, the Lions are in town and Hamilton shopping centre Westfield Chartwell is the place to be if you want to show your support for the NZ Maori team.

Getting right behind the Hamilton City Council’s black-out initiative, Westfield Chartwell is hanging out big black silver fern banners and thousands of black balloons.

A number of Westfield Chartwell retailers are dressing their windows and tomorrow (June 11) there’s face painting for kids and balloon giveaways. Plus there’s the opportunity for shoppers to win an Ultimate Supporter’s pack worth nearly $3,700.

Centre manager Chad Hooker says he’s hoping for a black day for the Lions.

“To paraphrase a joke kids often tell, I reckon it’s black and white and red’s all over – and it’ll be in tomorrow’s newspaper,” Mr Hooker says.
