Productivity focus welcome
Industrial relations policy unveiled by the National party is constructive and practical, says Business NZ.
Chief Executive Phil O’Reilly says the policy outline by industrial relations spokesman Wayne Mapp rightly focuses on workplace productivity.
“Increased productivity is the way to get improved living standards for everyone – people in the workforce, families and communities - and better workplace law would help us achieve that.
“National’s commitment to a lower regulatory burden, more workplace flexibility and an end to the monopoly on collective bargaining would help grow workplace productivity.
“Specific proposals for allowing grievance free probationary periods and for cleaning up the Holidays Act would be welcomed by many businesses.
“Hopefully the policy will be debated on its merits, not on ideology,” Mr O’Reilly said.
