New construction industry leader sets agenda
The new President of the Registered Master Builders Federation Michael Fox has a strong vision for the future with
growing recognition of member companies, and maintaining industry leadership and best practice standards, his key
priorities.
Announced this morning at the Registered Master Builders Federation (RMBF) annual conference in the Bay of Islands, Fox,
a resident of Khandallah in Wellington and Director of Primesite Homes, is looking forward to the challenge of leading
the largest construction industry organisation in New Zealand with a 104 year legacy.
“I want to maintain the Federation’s great standards and industry leadership position while ensuring that consumer
confidence remains high and our member’s needs are met. This will help in our bid, as part of the strategic plan, to
grow the Federations quality brand to represent 80% of the construction market.”
A former Vice President and a registered master builder for 28 years Fox says there are some big issues facing the
construction industry.
“Coming to grips with the changes to the new Building Act and preparing our members for licensing are just a couple. We
also need to ensure that we’re getting enough skilled tradespeople to complete existing orders, while keeping a watchful
eye on market trends for any slow down.”
He says registered master builders are renowned for quality workmanship and professionalism, while also providing strong
supportive networks with superior service and access to information and resources.
“I want to maintain and grow these qualities in the Federation and continue to be the leading industry body in our
sector.”
Registered master builder member companies built approximately 64% or $7 billion of the $11 billion construction
industry spend in New Zealand last year.
