New Zealand Selects 2005 Harry Brittain Fellow
Journalist Julie Middleton from The New Zealand Herald has been selected by the Commonwealth Press Union (New Zealand
Section) as the 2005 Harry Brittain Fellow.
The Harry Brittain Fellowship was established by the CPU in London in 1960 to provide ten young and promising
journalists from Commonwealth countries the opportunity to undertake a six-week period of work, study and social
activities in the United Kingdom. The fellowship is named as a memorial after the founder of the CPU, the late Sir Harry
Brittain.
CPU New Zealand Chairman, Tim Pankhurst, said he felt confident that Ms Middleton would maintain the very high standard
that New Zealanders had established in the fellowship since 1960.
“Julie has a strong record of journalism excellence and we are delighted to have been able to select a person with such
a bright journalistic future in this country” said Mr Pankhurst.
