APN stations lead New Zealand radio survey results
SYDNEY, April 15, 2005 – APN News & Media’s radio stations in New Zealand have dominated the first survey results for 2005, capturing more than 50% share of the largest market of Auckland.
For the first time in two years, APN stations, operated by The Radio Network, are number 1 in the three largest markets of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
Two of the most successful results were in the Auckland market, where the recently launched ‘baby-boomer’ Coast station moved to number 3 in the market, increasing its share by 3.4 points to 6.4. At the other end of the demographic spectrum, the hip-hop station Flava moved to number 1 in the commercially important 18 to 24 age group.
“This is just the second survey for Coast and Flava since they were launched in 2004 and these results are truly outstanding,” said APN chief executive Brendan Hopkins.
“TRN has confirmed itself as the number one broadcaster in New Zealand. With an audience share of more than 50% in Auckland, our network of eight formats gives listeners and advertisers great choice and flexibility.”
Newstalk ZB retained its position as the number 1 station in Auckland and Christchurch, while hit music station ZM became number 1 in Wellington.
TRN is a joint venture between APN News & Media and Clear Channel.
