Heather Coplestone, Managing Director of Destination Pacific Limited (DPL) – New Zealand is delighted to advise confirmation of the Gartner Premier Global Reward “Winners Circle” Incentive Program to be held in Auckland during April 2006. Attracting 850-900 participants from USA (55%) and other international countries (45%) it promises to be the nation’s largest pure incentive program.
Past destinations for Gartner have included Cape Town, Los Cabos, Maui, Cancun, Phuket, Monte Carlo, Vail and Puerto Rico. For the 2006 program Auckland was competing with several other significant destinations, including Australia.
New Zealand born Heather Coplestone is now based in DPL‘s South Pacific head office in Sydney. She has been working closely over many years with Sharon Auld, Manager (Australia) for Conventions & Incentives New Zealand (CINZ). “Without the magnificence assistance of the CINZ Australian office, DPL may not have seriously considered New Zealand for this prestigious incentive program”.
Destination Pacific is also working closely with Tourism Auckland and Air New Zealand in the USA.
Heather says they are delighted to have selected SKYCITY Auckland and have confirmed a total “buy out” of the brand new NZ$85 million 316 rooms SKYCITY Grand Hotel (opening April 2005), with an over-flow of around 100 rooms at SKYCITY’s existing 344 room four-plus star hotel.
The incentive program, to take place in April 2006 is the first time a complete buy-out of a five-star hotel has been undertaken in New Zealand.
Gartner Premier Global Reward “Winners Circle” will hold some key functions in the recently opened SKYCITY Auckland Convention Centre. In addition other special events will be held at various Auckland venues and numerous activities options will also showcase the Auckland destination according to Heather Coplestone
Kerry Rice, SKYCITY General Manager Sales, says this is a perfect example of how SKYCITY’s new accommodation and convention centre facilities are attracting a new and lucrative sector of the international incentive market to Auckland city.
“This incentive showcases the utilisation of both our hotels and convention facilities as well as the option for delegates to dine in our restaurants and enjoy a range of entertainment options with gaming, bars, live daily entertainment, SKYCITY Theatre and of course, the magnificent Sky Tower” he says.
Pre and post touring options may include the Bay of Islands, Queenstown and Rotorua.
Heather Coplestone says “The revenue for New Zealand will be impressive and will include merchandise being purchased for pillow gifts each night”.
