First Three AA Motoring Excellence Awards Presented
The first three of 12 Motoring Excellence Awards have been presented at a prestigious black tie function at the Langham
Hotel in Auckland this evening.
The J.D. Power & Associates Small Car Award has gone to the Ford Fiesta 5-door Hatch Duratec Auto. This was a hotly contested category
with eight vehicles nominated.
The Swann Insurance Compact Car Award has been presented to the Volkswagen 2.0 FSI manual. The judges felt the
Volkswagen offered an unbeatable blend of quality design, road manners and high-tech engineering.
The third Award presented so far this evening is the Eyepro Eyecare Medium 4 Cylinder Car which has gone to the Subaru
Legacy 2.5i Wagon. The Subaru impressed judges and came out on top through its quality package of handling, practicality
and value.
The AA Motoring Excellence Awards are being attended by 300 motoring and motor industry people and follow a week of
intensive judging at the Taupo Track.
The judges for this inaugural event included leading motoring journalists Brian Cowan, Jacqui Madelin, David Linklater,
Rob Maetzig and Phil Hanson, Rally Driver Emma Gilmour and Presenter Mark Lieshman.
The next category winners to be announced will be the National Bank Medium / Large Car, The Vero Luxury Class, and the
Castrol Lifestyle Class. Details shortly.
