Mainland Broadcasting Operates TV & Radio

Published: Wed 9 Mar 2005 09:27 AM
Mainland Broadcasting operates Television and Radio stations in New Zealand.
The news team has uncovered evidence that shows a New Zealand local Government election last year was conducted unlawfully.
As a result of reporting this story the Local Government body has taken action in an attempt to close down the TV and radio stations that reported the story.
The Managing director has also been targeted with legal action. Mr Watson also stood for office during those elections and has been concerned for some time about the way the election was conducted.
This attempt to restrict the media by total closure is unprecedented in New Zealand’s democratic history.
The matter has been referred to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Local Government.
