Christchurch Man's Winning Hat-Trick
Lotto's most recent Triple Dip promotion of 'Cars full of Cash' netted a Christchurch man his third significant win in
just two years, says Trevor Hall, the NZ Lotteries Commission's Chief Executive. The winner, who wishes to remain
anonymous, had won two $10,000 Instant Kiwi prizes in the last two years, before striking his latest prize of a Holden
Cruze car and $50,000 cash last weekend. The win, says the father of two, will go towards his mortgage.
"When I won the two Instant Kiwi wins, I was like, 'oh yeah'. This time, with the car and cash win, I was shaking - it's
quite substantial, eh."
His partner, who was shopping at Pak 'n' Save, Northlands Mall, where he verified his ticket, was disbelieving at his
triple win.
"I got the operator to verify the ticket three times - even I couldn't believe it," he said. Last weekend was especially
lucky for Northlands. Countdown Northlands sold two winning tickets in the Cars full of Cash promotion and The Mad
Butcher Northlands, sold a Lotto second division prize worth $23,361. The second division prize remains to be claimed.
Also still waiting to be claimed are two Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolets won by tickets sold in Christchurch on Christmas
Day, said Mr Hall. The winning tickets for the Cabriolets, worth $47,990 each, were sold at Parklands Lotto & Post, and Countdown Eastgate in Christchurch as part of Lotto's Biggest Christmas Ever Promotion. "These prizes would
make anybody's day. We're appealing to our players who bought a ticket at these outlets, to have their tickets verified
at a Lotto terminal," he said.
