Subdivisions In Leigh Cry ‘Location Location Location’
Properties are often described by real estate agents as ‘rare as hen’s teeth’, but a costal development overlooking Omaha Bay at Leigh is proving so popular that demand is outstripping supply.
Only 5 minutes walk from Leigh township, the new subdivision at Island View has some of the very few coastal properties available on the Rodney Peninsula.
Of the 50 sections at Island View only ten are available, and sole agent Marie-Dominique Lennan of Harveys Warkworth expects these to sell quickly with interest coming from across New Zealand and abroad. “There have been properties at Island View for four years,” says Marie-Dominique, “and the latest subdivisions to be released have the same features that make it the perfect place for a family retreat.”
Three cliff top sections in particular are perched upon a cliff above the Hauraki Gulf with views to Coromandel and Little Barrier.
“Island View has everything you could want out of a holiday home or retirement location. The surf beach, Daniel’s Reef, is below, while picturesque Matheson’s Bay and the shops and cafes are an easy walk away. And Leigh is only just over an hour’s drive from Auckland, so it is always popular with city dwellers wanting a weekend sanctuary.
“These properties appeal to a wide range of buyers who have been waiting for opportunities like this to come onto the market for a long time. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are snapped up within a few weeks.”
Marie-Dominique has every reason to be confident. Demand for coastal properties in the Matakana, Leigh and Omaha areas has soared in the last five years, with more and more New Zealanders wanting their own slice of heaven, and fewer bach owners willing to give theirs up.
“The Kowhai Coast has only so much coastline and so many beachfront properties,” says Marie-Dominique, “so we face a real shortage of prime locations.”
Prices at Island View range from $220,000 to $475,000, and clifftop sections start from $650,000.
