Mike King And The Pork Roadshow
New Zealand comedian Mike King is facing competition from six other "Mikes" who are demonstrating on television that any Mike can prepare and cook a quick and delicious 100% New Zealand Pork meal on the BBQ.
Mike King has lined up six of his mates, all named Mike, to feature in a range of infomercials which demonstrate just how easy it is to utilize pork on the BBQ, with dishes ranging from Southern Man Beer Chops to Black Pepper Pork cooked in a wok.
John Quigley, Marketing Manager for the New Zealand Pork Industry Board which produced the infomercials, said the new series has taken the cooking of pork out of the kitchen, on to the BBQ and out to the provinces, with the other, 'real-life' Mikes, who work in a range of occupations, coming from all over New Zealand. Included is Michal ('Mike' to her friends) from Kawau Island , and Mike on the South Island West Coast who cooks Black Pepper Pork in a wok on his BBQ.
Whilst all the recipes are cooked on a standard three burner BBQ, all can be easily cooked in the kitchen.
The infomercials feature a range of cuts, including 100% New Zealand Pork loin chops, Trim Pork Mince and Trim Pork Fillet.
"100% New Zealand Pork is the ideal protein for cooking on the BBQ," according to John Quigley.
"Pork mince is great as it binds on its own and can be made into tasty burgers, patties and sausages, and there is nothing quite as good as a pork chop on the BBQ. The secret is a good marinade and Mike from Christchurch shows us how with his simple balsamic vinaigrette, he said."
The infomercials will screen on TV One and TV Two and the recipes can be found on the Board's website www.pork.co.nz.
