SKYCITY to observe memorial Day for tsunami victims
SKYCITY properties will actively observe Sunday's national memorial day to mourn victims of the Asian tsunami. One minute's silence will be observed at 1.59pm - the local New Zealand time when the Boxing Day earthquake struck, triggering the tsunami.
SKYCITY's New Zealand properties in Auckland, Hamilton and Queenstown will officially mark the day by observing one minute's silence in their restaurants, bars and gaming floors. Table games will also be halted for the period.
Flags will be flown at half mast for the day and Sky Tower will not be lit on Sunday night (except for air traffic lights).
SKYCITY's Australian properties will also be observing the memorial day. SKYCITY Adelaide and SKYCITY Darwin will fly flags at half mast to mark the occasion.
