Workplace Services See Boom In New Year’s Resolutions
Fitness and finances are top of the agenda for a bunch of travel agents around the country, if trends at New Zealand’s
largest travel retailer are anything to go by.
Flight Centre’s agents have been giving their inhouse health and fitness division, Healthwise, and financial planning
service, Moneywise, even more of a workout since 2005 began.
Human resources director Sue Matson said they’ve had a flood of agents using the services in the past two weeks.
“There have been lots of New Year’s resolutions set, that’s for sure!” she said.
Healthwise and Moneywise are inhouse divisions of Flight Centre as part of the company’s ‘healthy, wealthy and wise’
philosophy. Healthwise offers staff an annual health assessment, goal setting assistance, advice on all aspects of
health and fitness and discounts on a range of goods and services such as gym memberships, massage, supplements and
more. Moneywise offers staff advice on all aspects of their finances, and provide a variety of services including
arranging mortgages, investing, superannuation and more.
Ms Matson said the services were well utilised by staff all year but they have noticed a significant increase in
enquiries over the last few weeks.
“We’ve had more agents joining gyms and setting up super plans in the last couple of weeks than at any other time,” she
said.
“The feedback we’ve had from staff is that these are things they’ve long known they should do, but putting it into
action is a different story. Having the services tailored to their working life and in their workplace has made making
that step considerably easier.”
