Olympic Champions Help Launch Revised Saladsplus Menu
New Zealanders will see the familiar faces of Olympic Champions Sarah Ulmer and Hamish Carter with the launch of McDonald's new SaladsPlus menu today.
The gold medallists have worked with McDonald's on the range and appear in the latest advertisements for the new menu, which provides customers with improved products at more affordable prices.
Each product in the range contains less than nine grams of fat per average serve, with the full SaladsPlus menu comprising a variety of products, including two flatbreads - a Chicken Flatbread with chicken breast slices, grilled onions, crisp salad mix, tomato, a herb & garlic dressing in a toasted herb flatbread, and a Salad Flatbread.
There are two salads - Chicken Salad with chicken breast slices, crisp garden salad mix, tomato and croutons, as well as a Garden Salad option. There are also four ETA dressing options - Caesar, Avocado & Garlic, Balsamic and Lite & Free French.
The Yoghurt Berry Crunch features Fresh 'n Fruity low fat natural yoghurt layered on strawberries, topped with blueberries and new crunchy toasted honey oats - an ideal snack at anytime of the day.
A new low fat Banana Berry Smoothie made with New Zealand milk and fruit, rounds off the range.
McDonald's Country Manager, Gráinne Troute, says the refined SaladsPlus menu shows a commitment to this permanent range, while remaining both convenient and affordable. "We are responding to our customers and key learnings from the original SaladsPlus menu. We understand the importance of evolving and, through listening to New Zealanders, we're making changes to our menu that reflect that demand," says Ms. Troute.
"We are excited to feature both Sarah and Hamish in this campaign and to continue to offer customers a wide selection when they visit our restaurants."
Over the last 12 months, McDonald's has made significant changes. The introduction of a monounsaturated sunflower oil blend in all its restaurants has significantly reduced the saturated fat levels in its fried foods.
All menu options have been re-tested and an updated nutrition brochure and website offers customers comprehensive information about McDonald's menu.
The company took its commitment to providing customers with information one step further by printing nutrition information on the back of all 15 million traymats used in restaurants annually.
In addition, fruit bags containing slices of washed and ready to eat fresh apples are available nationwide as an alternative to Happy Meal French Fries for no extra cost, or as a separate snack purchase.
The new McDonald's SaladsPlus range is available in all restaurants nationwide from Thursday 13 January 2005.
