Please Santa Send Me A Man
While Bridget Jones may have found happiness with Mark Darcy for now, her singleton friends are still searching and this
Christmas some of them are enlisting Santa’s help.
Almost 1000 emails with greetings and Christmas requests have been sent to Telecom’s Santaline campaign so far this
year, with thousands more expected in the lead up to Christmas. This is in addition to the resounding 70,000 plus calls
and some 1600 text messages sent to Santa’s home and mobile phone.
And while children are bombarding the bearded one at santa@xtramsn.co.nz with requests for the latest technology and
toys, his adult friends are hoping Santa can bring them diversions of a different nature this Christmas.
Here is a sample of the lonely hearts’ emails Santa has received:
• Dear Santa, I would like an X-Box for Christmas. My mum would like a man for Christmas.
• Dear Santa, I have been a good girl all year and worked really hard. I have babysat for the grandchildren lots,
and not blinked an eye when they have puked up on my carpet. I have washed heaps of the old fella’s smelly socks and not
complained (much). I have cooked, cleaned and dusted. I may have drunk too much and fallen over once or twice, but hey,
girls just gotta have fun now and again.
Now to the crunch. Xmas day . . . Guess who will be working up till Xmas eve and again on boxing day, and doing all the
cooking and cleaning? Yep Santa, right on!!
So, could you please send me an elf to do the dishes? Make him a cute little sexy one, and I would prefer that he can
not talk, burp or talk about rugby or politics.

• Hi Santa, I have been very good this year. So for Christmas I would like a new man, as I feel I have been alone
too long. I would like a new man for Christmas and the New Year please.
Head of Consumer Marketing for Telecom, Victoria Crone says, the requests for men may make Santa’s Christmas shopping a
little tougher this year.
“I’m not sure whether there’s an abundance of single men at the North Pole or not but we’ll make sure their requests get
through to Santa”.
The top ten requests from children this week are: bikes, clothes, mobile phones with airtime credit, Bratz dolls, Lego,
Barbie dolls, PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Spiderman merchandise, Transformers and ponies (real ones).
Santa can be reached by texting 9627 from a text-capable Telecom mobile. Texts cost 20 cents and a donation from each
text will be made to this year’s charity, CCS, an organisation supporting people with disabilities.
Launched in 1993, Telecom’s SantaLine is a way for everyone to call, email and text their Christmas wishes to Santa.
