Stand Up And Be Recognised In Excellence Awards
Those considering entering the 2004 Fonterra Westpac Dairy Excellence Awards have just one more week to send in their entry forms before the December 20 deadline.
The organising committee is urging Fonterra's most effective and efficient farmers to take pride in their performance and put themselves forward for recognition.
Fonterra Westpac Dairy Excellence Awards Chairman Jim van der Poel is encouraging those still considering entering the awards to get their forms in.
"There is a great deal of interest out there but we need people to contact their regional committees and formalise their entries," says Jim.
"Don't be put off by thinking you need to have a large farm or high levels of production. Excellence exists at every level and we want to identify our best performers and share the knowledge they have, across our entire supplier base.
"Excellent farms are those that make the most of their resources and utilise their own and staff's skills. Anyone who feels that they have what it takes to excel in the various fields should contact their local Field Rep as soon as possible."
The awards recognise and promote excellence and achievement in the dairy industry, profile dairy farming excellence and promote and develop information exchange, through benchmarking and best practice.
"The feedback we have received is very clear that a key benefit to farmers from entering is being able to benchmark their business against others," says Jim.
The Fonterra Westpac Dairy Excellence Awards offer prizes to the Fonterra Westpac Farm Business of the Year, Farm Manager of the Year and six individual performance awards. They also seek to recognise contribution to the industry with the Mazda Lifetime Achievement Award. The prize pool includes a trip for two to one of Fonterra's overseas market.
The awards are supported by Dexcel and sponsored by Mazda, Telecom, Livestock Improvement, Pioneer, Ravensdown Fertiliser, RD1 and DTS.
Fonterra suppliers wishing to enter the awards should contact their local Field Representative, Committee Member or visit www.dairyexcellenceawards.co.nz for further information.
