Radioworks Launches Nationwide News Station
RadioWorks, a CanWest MediaWorks company, has revealed plans for a new, nationwide radio news and information station.
The plan was unveiled at the CanWest MediaWorks AGM by CEO Brent Impey.
The nationwide Station will be called Radio Live, and will be a contemporary information format station.
“Radio Live is a fresh initiative which will compete head-to-head with other talk, news and information stations in the
market,” said CanWest MediaWorks CEO, Brent Impey.
“The station will feature high profile, contemporary and controversial hosts. We are determined to impact the landscape
of news and information based radio in New Zealand,” he said.
“Quality news and information based radio stations are one of the world’s leading radio formats at the present time. New
Zealanders have a particularly strong appetite for news, and our belief is that presently listener’s needs aren’t being
adequately met with a fresh and contemporary news and information radio station. Radio Live will fill that need,” Mr
Impey said.
The weekday personalities on the new station include Martin Devlin, Michael Laws, Kerry Smith, Paul Henry and Marcus
Lush.
“New studios and facilities for the station are currently under construction, and Radio Live will enjoy the services of
a fully integrated newsroom in the station, where journalists will have the ability to go live to air with breaking news
and specialist reports from their desk,” said Mr Impey.
“As the name suggests, live and breaking news will be a key feature of the station, we will bring New Zealanders
breaking news from around the country and around the world live and first.”
This station is a new format, separate to Radio Pacific, which will remain on air as a racing oriented format. At
non-racing times, Pacific will broadcast a mix of music and talk radio.
Radio Live will be in 21 markets throughout the country, on the following frequencies:

Radio Live is expected to go live to air in April next year.
