FCB Boosts Creative Muscle With Appointment Of Oliver Maisey
Auckland, December 10, 2004 - Award winning integrated advertising agency FCB has further boosted its creative talent base with the appointment of Oliver Maisey as Executive Creative Director.
Maisey is a multi-award winning creative whose background includes time with GeneratorBates and Saatchi & Saatchi Wellington.
His appointment comes less than two weeks after renowned industry figure Nick Baylis joined FCB as the agency's new CEO.
Baylis said it was a significant coup for FCB to secure someone of Maisey's creative calibre. The pair worked together between 2000 and 2003 when Maisey was Creative Director at GeneratorBates.
"Oliver is hugely respected in the New Zealand and the wider Asia Pacific creative community. He leads by example and his arrival in a leadership role at FCB is a clear signal that we are setting our standards high and aiming to be a dominant and driving creative force in the market," Baylis said.
"I know from working with him in the past that he is also brilliant at spotting and nurturing creative talent, which also bodes well for FCB."
After leaving GeneratorBates in 2003, where he took the agency from nowhere to be ranked in the top 4 for creative awards won, Maisey has spent the past 14 months as a director for Curious Films.
At Curious Films he has directed about 15 commercials and put together a reel that includes an ATV trophy winner, a gold Effie winner, 2 ads that have made it onto bestadsontv.com, and another that has been selected into Campaign Brief's creative circle.
Maisey said his recent directing experience had broadened his skill base and he was excited about returning to an agency setting, especially to work with Baylis.
"Nick is a suit with a creative's mindset - a rare combination that brings out the best in his creative team and makes for a very rewarding and motivating working environment," Maisey said.
Baylis said: "FCB's incumbent Creative Director, Murray Watt, is definitely staying with the agency. Muz is a great talent and an integral part of the team.
"Oliver's appointment signals a strengthening of our creative depth and resources and will allow Muz to focus on the work he loves and does best - providing outstanding creative to key clients."
Maisey begins work at FCB on Monday December 13.
