New Spin on Steel Can Recycling
Parnell based Slice Media Ltd has been appointed the PR agency for the Steel Can Association of New Zealand (SCANZ).
Slice will focus on helping SCANZ meet its requirements under the Packaging Accord, encouraging Local Authorities
throughout the country to accept all types of steel cans for recycling as well as raising awareness within the industry
and general public about the benefits of recycling steel cans.
Bruce Gledhill, SCANZ Programme Director says, “The Accord target, and our objective, is to get more cans set out by
householders - this is the only way to increase the recovery rate. To do this all the signatories to the Accord have to
work towards making participation in recycling the easy and obvious choice.
“As the steel industry sector signatory we must demonstrate commitment to the Accord principles and in doing so will
support local authorities as they seek to increase the national recycling rate of all packaging types and brand owners
as they work to specify packaging with sustainability and recovery in mind,” he says.
“Slice Media offered us the right mix of experience in matters environmental, professional communications skills and
enthusiasm. We are excited by the prospect of working with them.” Lisa Williams, Director Slice Media says,
“SCANZ is a natural fit around our existing client base and a challenge we are looking forward to. With the innovative
campaigns we have in mind I’m sure steel can recycling will have a much higher profile by this time next year.”
