Harveys North Harbour Tee Off To Support Kristin School
08 December 2004: Harveys North Harbour helped raise more than $4,000 for Kristin School recently with a ladies golf tournament at Muriwai Golf Course, which attracted a strong entry.
Competitors were treated to a fun day of golf followed by an entertaining prize giving hosted by comedienne Michelle A’Court. Long drive specialist Davyn Nola wowed the field with massive drives landing 330 metres away.
Harveys CEO Ross Hunter auctioned two items - a special prototype golf putter from PGA tour pro Nick Price, and four rounds of golf at The Kauri Cliffs Golf Resort with return helicopter transfers from Albany - providing $4,000 for the school’s golf programme, which develops some of the country’s most promising golfing talent.
The inaugural tournament marked the beginning of an ongoing partnership that will see Harveys support Kristin’s golf facilities and youth development programme as well as its ‘Skills Development Driving Range’, which recently opened to the public.
Kristin School Golf Manager Ian Woon says Harveys’ assistance has been invaluable to the development of the programme and the facilities for students, corporate users, and the public.
“The support from Harveys has been tremendous,” he says. “Not only do they contribute financially, they also provide marketing expertise that will help us to improve the product and increase public awareness of the facilities and coaching programmes.”
The money raised from the ladies golf day will go towards the purchase of a school minivan for transporting young sporting talent to various tournaments and venues around New Zealand.
