Apprenticeship figures cause for celebration
500 graduates under the Modern Apprenticeships scheme is a cause for celebration, says Business NZ.
Chief Executive Phil O'Reilly says the scheme is doubly important now that skill shortages are so prevalent.
"There is complete agreement between employers and the Government that workplace skills are a priority.
"We would like to encourage as many businesses as possible to take part in the Modern Apprenticeships scheme.
"Given the success of the Modern Apprenticeship scheme so far, we'd also like to encourage the Government to consider lifting the cap on workplace training expenditure, so that that workplace training can take its place alongside other education sectors for which funding is demand-driven."
