Custom House expanding in Adelaide to service local grain exporters, wineries & shipping
ADELAIDE, Australia, Nov. 22 /CNW-AsiaNet/ --
Several key members of the senior management team of Custom House Global Foreign Exchange including Peter Gustavson, President and CEO and Ian Taylor, Senior Vice-President of Global Sales and Marketing arrive in Adelaide today to announce significant expansion plans for the local Custom House operation.
"We see Adelaide as a very important, key market for Custom House," said Taylor. "Our winning formula - investing in local talent, specializing only in foreign exchange, and promising and delivering better than bank rates - provides an advantage to all businesses including the cornerstones of the local economy - namely grain exporters, wineries and shipping companies. Furthermore, I'm delighted to welcome an Adelaide star to manage the Adelaide operations of the fastest growing foreign exchange company in Australia," Taylor added.
Asha Thattengat, an Adelaide-based foreign exchange professional, will head up the operation for Custom House. Local demand for the company's services means the operation will go from being a sales office to a full- service branch with the authority to make decisions for clients here in Adelaide.
Ms Thattengat has 20 years experience in international trade and finance with the Hong Kong Bank in Singapore, St. George's Bank, the State Bank of South Australia and the Bank of South Australia in Adelaide. She will report to Fraser Jeffries, Vice President for Asia Pacific. Jeffries oversees all Custom House operations in Australia, New Zealand and the wider Asia Pacific region.
"Custom House has aggressive plans for more openings - and more hiring - in Asian Pacific," said Taylor, who recently returned from the United Kingdom where the company opened it's 80th international office.
The company has expanded strategically in this part of the world during the past 3 or 4 years and today conducts business throughout Australia with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
Custom House Global Foreign Exchange handles more than $10 billion in foreign exchange transactions annually for 45,000 clients in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States. Recognized as one of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies for four years in a row, Custom House provides currency exchange solutions to pay foreign invoices and exchange foreign receivables. Custom House offers foreign exchange currency drafts, international wires, forward contracts, a foreign exchange rate watch service, world market updates and online transactions for importers, exporters and financial institutions.
