Fulbright announces new Executive Director
The Board of Fulbright New Zealand has announced the appointment of Mele Wendt to the position of Executive Director at Fulbright New Zealand.
Mele was previously the Manager of the Student Recruitment and Course Advice Office at Victoria University. She was also the University’s first Pacific Liaison Officer. She has a BA in English Literature and a Postgraduate Certificate in Management Studies from Victoria University.
Fulbright’s Chairperson, Suzanne Snively said, “We are delighted that Mele has accepted this appointment. She brings a wealth of knowledge from the academic sector and extensive networks in the government sector. We look forward to working with her.”
“It is a real privilege for me to have been appointed,” says Mele.
“It’s a wonderful programme which will enable me to continue my involvement in the tertiary sector, and also to work with New Zealand and US governments and other key stakeholders, to raise and grow the programme.”
Mele takes over from Jennifer Gill who left Fulbright in September to become the Chief Executive of ASB Trusts in Auckland. She will take up her appointment in early 2005.
