Backpacker Boom Meets Big OE Crowd Expo Features Travel Talks and Kiwiana Lessons
Big OE-bound New Zealanders will mingle with international backpackers this weekend, pondering holiday jobs, scuba
lessons and wine tours, plus where to go and how to get there.
The 2005 Auckland Backpackers and Adventure Travel Expo will attract a diverse crowd with a common interest – seeing the
world, and seeking out local advice on what not to miss.
“It’s inspiring,” says YHA New Zealand Marketing Manager Daniel Shields. “You might go in thinking ‘wine tours’ and
leave planning windsurfing lessons. It’s a chance to think about those places in New Zealand – and the rest of the world
– that you have always wanted to visit.”
Their travels may range from a weekend break to a round-the-world ticket, however as options have increased, so has the
knowledge of travellers. They are well educated by guidebooks and web sites, and so this is an opportunity for them to
get one-on-one advice, in a comfortable, relaxed setting.
Throughout the day visitors to the expo can attend free Travel Talks; topics range from London to Papua New Guinea to
the Galapagos.
Admission to Auckland’s two-day showcase of New Zealand and international travel experiences is only $5. Or visit
www.yha.co.nz and simply print out the FREE entry voucher.
