Television advertising grows 11.3% in Sept quarter
Television advertising revenue increased by 11.3 per cent ($18.0 million) to $178.2 million for the three months to 30 September 2004 compared to $160.2 million for the same period in 2003. For the 12 months to 30 September 2004 the revenue increase was 12.0% ($67.8 million) with a total of $634.6 million compared to $566.8 million for the same period to September 2003.
The NZTBC's Executive Director, Bruce Wallace said, "The strength in the September quarter confirms the ongoing surge in spending on television including the impact of the Olympics Games. Estimates are that the traditionally strong December quarter will occur ensuring that television breaks another record for the calendar fiscal year."
Nielsen Media Research reported category growth in the September quarter from household electrical, insurance, finance and banking, telecommunications, health and cosmetics and toiletries.
The returns are from TVWorks (3/C4), Prime Television New Zealand, Television New Zealand (TVOne/TV2) and SKY Network Television.
