Games supported by Trust
The link between building strong communities through conscience sponsorship and Olympic ideals has been met this week,
with Castle Trust being announced as naming sponsors of the Castle Trust New Zealand College Games.
“The Castle Trust Board of Trustees support of community projects and events throughout New Zealand ensures the
communities in which we all live, benefit from initiatives like the New Zealand College Games,” says Chairman of the
Castle Trust, Ken Williamson.
The games to be held in Hamilton from December 3-7 take place every four years to coincide with the Olympics and are
fully supported by the New Zealand Olympic Committee.
“We are proud to be associated with this event that showcases our nations young talent, reflects the values of Olympism,
and that positively reinforces physical activity to young people” said Mr Williamson.
The Castle Trust New Zealand College Games are expected to attract over 4000 elite secondary athletes. Entries are by
invitation only and close mid November.
“Entries are starting to roll in now and it’s pleasing that we are seeing entries from South Island Schools, from
schools as far away as Lumsdon in Southland, Dunedin and Christchurch. We are expecting an influx over the next couple
of weeks and are well on target for reaching over 4000 entries. It’s very pleasing that schools have really got behind
the event,” says Jill Ibberson, Castle Trust New Zealand College Games Event Manager
