Contact Now In Westland As Nationwide Rollout Continues
Residential electricity consumers in Westland now have greater choice in their energy retailer with the entry of Contact Energy to the region. The company is expanding its coverage nationwide to offer service to every part of the country.
Contact Energy General Manager Trading Steve Cross said Contact was delighted to provide greater choice to Westland electricity consumers.
“Contact’s entry to Westland demonstrates our commitment to enhancing competition in the retail electricity market.
“Some 9,900 homes in Westland now have added choice in their electricity retailer, including the ability to collect FlyBuys points on their bill. Contact is the only electricity retailer to offer FlyBuys.
“Residential customers who want more information on switching to Contact should call 0800 80 9000 or visit our website www.mycontact.co.nz.”
Contact’s retail offer extends to all residential customers in the Westland area, including Greymouth and Hokitika.
Contact is planning to launch retail service in Buller next month, after which it will offer retail electricity service to the entire West Coast and South Island.
Mr Cross said the company would be rolling out to the few remaining areas in the country where Contact does not yet offer service to residential customers.
“As one of the country’s leading energy retailers, committed to a competitive market for electricity, we want to be present and actively seek customers in Westland and throughout the country.”
“Over coming months we will be launching retail offers to people in Buller, King Country and Bay of Plenty. Since April’s announcement that Contact intends to provide nationwide coverage, we have already launched retail service in Waipa, Marlborough, Central Hawkes Bay, Southern Hawkes Bay, Wairoa and from today, Westland.
“When completed, these moves will mean Contact Energy will retail electricity to households throughout the entire country, providing choice to every residential electricity consumer,” said Mr Cross.
