Eco Eggs Cracks Singapore
The Eco Egg Company Ltd based in Levin, New Zealand, has received approval from the New Zealand Food Safety Authority
(NZFSA) and the Singapore Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) to export eggs to Singapore.
"This represents a significant break through for the Company" says Mike Schellkes Managing Director. "We are one of only
two New Zealand companies who comply with the tough (AVA) importation requirements. With the recent outbreak of chicken
influenza in neighboring Malaysia, resulting in a shortage of eggs in Singapore, consumers will now be relieved to be
able to enjoy healthy and wholesome eggs sourced from us here in New Zealand."
The Eco Egg Co, founded in 1993, has established a network of small-scale, free range, organic and barn egg producers
who work efficiently together to supply the market with excellent quality eggs. All farms are independently audited by
AgriQuality to stringent production methods and by the SPCA to comply with high animal welfare standards.
The Eco Egg company has a registered Risk Management Programme (RMP) and is certified to ISO 9001 quality management
standards.
"We supply our specialty eggs to many supermarkets throughout the country and to the Hong Kong market. Being able to
export to Singapore is very exciting for us. It means a significant recognition for small scale egg production in New
Zealand proving them to be competitive and professional enough to work alongside big industry players." says Mike
Schellkes.
