Territory Momentum Powers Ford Into Passenger Leadership For Second Consecutive Month
AUCKLAND, New Zealand, 14 September
LTSA figures show that Ford New Zealand claimed passenger segment leadership for the second consecutive month, and at the same time whittled away some of the gap between first and second place in the overall sales race.
Two vehicles in Ford's extensive new model line up also claimed National Business Review Car of the Year awards – Ford Fiesta (Small Car of the Year) and Ford Territory (Sports Utility Vehicle of the Year).
"Ford Territory enjoyed another fantastic month – it continues to enjoy a dream debut, and the NBR award merely emphasizes how good this vehicle really is," said the Marketing Manager of Ford New Zealand, Graeme Whickman.
"In the ten weeks that Ford Territory has been on sale (June 14 to the end of August), there have been 530 new Territory sold – making it one of the best selling large SUV's in New Zealand for the year."
In addition to Territory, there were two other Ford brands to feature on the 'Top Ten Most Popular Passenger Vehicles' list for the month – BA Falcon and Mondeo – and Focus was just outside of a top ten result.
"Mondeo was second in its segment for the month, and continues to be the leader year to date in this competitive segment. We also enjoyed another successful month of Focus sales," added Mr. Whickman.
Ford's comprehensive new vehicle range will be further strengthened in coming months by the arrival of BA Falcon MkII, and also an all new Focus in the second quarter of 2005.
"Our goal these past several years has been to offer the New Zealand consumer the finest range of products available from around the world. With the introduction of the Ford Fiesta, the Ford Falcon MkII, the Ford Territory, and the soon to arrive all new Ford Focus I believe we have the finest line-up of any brand in New Zealand," said Mr. Whickman.
