Group Programme Director Appointed
RadioWorks, a CanWest MediaWorks company, has appointed Jana Rangooni to the newly created role of Group Programme Director.
Ms Rangooni takes on responsibility for all the music brands in the RadioWorks company. These include The Edge, The Rock, More FM, The Breeze, Channel Z, Solid Gold and numerous local stations throughout the country.
“I am delighted we have secured Jana’s services for this critical role in our organisation,” said RadioWorks Chief Operating Officer, Sussan Turner.
“Jana’s solid grounding in radio both here and in the UK make her an ideal appointment to oversee the progression and continued audience growth of our successful music brands,” she said.
After graduating from Massey University, Ms Rangooni started her radio career in 1987 as a breakfast newsreader in New Plymouth. In 1988 she won the Best New Broadcaster Award at the NZ Radio Awards. She soon moved into promotions and marketing, then programming. After launching The Edge in New Zealand 10 years ago, Jana then worked for GWR in the UK for four years, before joining the Chrysalis group where she launched Galaxy FM in the North East of England, and six months later was promoted to the prestigious role of Programme Director of Heart FM in London.
Since returning to New Zealand three years ago, Jana Rangooni has worked for RadioWorks, specialising in talent coaching and development.
“This new role is a natural extension of what I have been doing and draws together nearly 20 years experience in the industry,” said Ms Rangooni.
“Radio in New Zealand is world class, competitive and a very stimulating environment to be in. I look forward to strengthening our station’s performances by working alongside a very talented group of programmers and on-air talent.”
The new role takes effect immediately.
