New generation lifestyle student accommodation nears completion
Ocon Developments Limited today announced a significant milestone in reaching the closed in stage of launching its Universe City lifestyle student accommodation investment.
Situated beside Massey University on the North Shore of Auckland, the Universe City development offers a rare combination of student lifestyle and location; architecturally designed to meet the demands of current and future student living. Universe City provides a modernistic student village encompassing 136 bedroom units within 5 individual dwelling – situated within a natural landscaped environment.
“In December 2002 I saw a gap in the market” says Ocon founder Olaf van Daal. “After considerable research, I purchased a block of land that would enable me to create a rare combination of unique student accommodation. My vision was to provide high quality accommodation with a technology focus that enabled complete privacy but also allowed students to participate in a friendly, safe and secure community.”
“Universe City will provide students with the latest technology including high speed internet access, wireless internet connections, motion sensor monitoring and proximity access cards. The cards will also enable various purchases to be made onsite without the need for cash.” Says Olaf.
With an expected completion date of mid December 2004, Universe City has recently entered into a marketing agreement with Harcourts. “We are extremely proud to be involved in this new investment development” says Jeff Brill, Manager Harcourts Glenfield.
“Massey University currently has 7,800 students with growth projections of 25,000 students. This unique type of property investment is ideally suited for people seeking a ‘set and forget’ type arrangement to add to their portfolio. With both four and six bedroom apartments available for purchase, these new investments should be considered by all people seeking to take advantage of student growth on the North Shore.” Says Jeff.
Ocon Developments Limited founder Olaf van Daal has extensive experience in residential developments, high- rises and commercial fit outs in Europe. Settling in New Zealand in 1997, Olaf holds three bachelor degrees in mass-manufacturing, frame building and interior architecture.
