Freedom Air To Increase Fiji Services
Freedom Air today announced that it will double its services to Fiji from Hamilton, Palmerston North and Christchurch
during next year’s high season, 27 March – 29 October 2005.
Michael Young, Freedom Air’s acting general manager, says the increased services are necessary during the high season to
cope with the huge increase in demand. “Because we are committed to providing more seats at the lower fare levels on
every flight, it’s important that we are able to meet the demand that our really, really small fares create.”
Figures released by the Fiji Visitors Bureau state that Freedom Air’s Fiji services from Hamilton and Palmerston North
have helped boost the number of Kiwis heading there by over 50 per cent.
More than 16,000 bookings have been made on Freedom Air’s Fiji services so far and the airline expects bookings to
continue to be strong. “Fiji is an extremely popular destination for New Zealand holiday makers and we are expecting to
carry more than 50,000 passengers over the next 12 months,” Young says.
Freedom Air became the only airline to offer year-round services direct to Fiji from Hamilton, Palmerston North and
Christchurch when it launched its new services earlier this year.
“By flying direct we eliminate the need for domestic flights, making travel more convenient and saving our passengers
precious holiday time. It is clear from our bookings that direct flights from other cities to Fiji are exactly what the
New Zealand public is looking for.” Young says. more
Seats on Freedom Air’s increased services go on sale today and are for travel up to 26 June 2005. Bookings can be made
on the airlines website www.freedomair.com or through the Reservations Centre on 0800 600 500.
