Fiji heading for record year in tourism
With Fiji tourism figures for the first six months just in, the Pacific Islands nation is heading for an all-time record year.
A huge growth in Kiwi visitors is making a significant impact, with an increase of 54 percent in the month of June over the previous period last year.
Actual numbers were 12,180 against 7909.
For the six months to June 30, New Zealand visitors to Fiji are up 50 percent at 40,598, compared to 27,144 for 2003.
Director of the Fiji Visitors Bureau in New Zealand, Paresh Pant, believes that the year could end up with in excess of 90,000 visitors against last year¹s 75,000 record.
Arrivals for June from all markets came in at 45,168, up 14 percent on the same period in 2003.
