Quicksilver announces firewall agreement
Internet Service Provider Quicksilver has today signed a deal with Intrical to offer small businesses in New Zealand
firewall protection from hackers and internet worms.
"Small businesses are realising the benefits of always-on internet connections, such as the ability to run their own web
and email servers and download information in a fraction of the time it takes with a dial up connection." says
Quicksilver MD Matthew Hobbs. "But always being connected to the internet brings exposure to risks from rogue hackers
and worms; risks small businesses are often not prepared for."
A firewall removes this threat by 'guarding' IT systems and the company information stored on them, such as invoices and
supplier details.
Quicksilver is offering a fully managed firewall service at an entry-level price. The firewall service removes the
threat of small businesses being forced to pay for processing large amounts of data they didn't want in the first place
and protects vital documents from damage or destruction; risks with an unprotected server. Unprotected organisations can
even face charges from their own ISP for excess usage.
Matthew Hobbs: "Quicksilver specialises in supporting the internet needs of small businesses. We chose the Intrical
firewall service as it matches this sector's specific needs. It provides constant, behind the scenes monitoring from
qualified security professionals, without the cost and infrastructure normally associated with this level of
protection."
Other features of the firewall service include automatic security updates, 24/7 monitoring of attacks and technical
support from qualified security engineers.
