More user-friendly coins would reduce workplace injuries
"We agree with the Reserve Bank that silver coinage needs to become more user friendly for cash handlers," said Andrew Casidy, General Secretary of the bank workers' union, Finsec.
"Lighter coins will certainly help to reduce back injuries amongst bank tellers required to lift bags of coins.
"We are very pleased that, on this occasion, the health and safety of workers coincides with the need to be more cost effective."
