SAVOUR NEW ZEALAND TASTES NATIONAL AWARDS SUCCESS
Canterbury company acclaimed for innovation and excellence.
Christchurch ''foodie'' entrepreneurs, Savour New Zealand are recipients of a national award for innovation and excellence.
Michael Lee Richards, Tina Duncan and Astrid Andersen are the owners and organisers of the bi-annual masterclasses, attracting "foodies" from around the country and across the Tasman to hear some of the world's leading food and wine experts and sample their work.
The Cuisine/Matua Valley Awards of Innovation and Excellence were announced today (Wednesday 11th August) with Savour New Zealand one of just twenty winners.
The Award comes as the group are preparing for their next event in May 2005 and is a bonus in terms of not just raising the profile of the event but in giving extra kudos to sponsors and all those involved.
"We did not know we'd been nominated so we were completely surprised by the Award. We are delighted the judges have recognized the standards and commitment to excellence that we set ourselves to deliver a great event, "said Michael Lee Richards.
Savour New Zealand is in good company on the Awards list with three other Cantabury recipients: Canterbury Cheesemongers, Dunsandel Store and Camellia Farm and Valere Kelp Pepper.
The national list includes 42 Below vodka, condiments producer Kato Pacific, Kinaki Wild Herbs of Rotorua and the Antipodes water company.
The supreme winner was Moore Wilson's Fresh, a boutique food bazaar in Wellington.
Details of Savour New Zealand's schedule of events and guest speakers for 2005 will be announced in December.
