Two New Directors for NZ Meat Board

Alastair Bisley and Brian Lynch have been appointed as Directors of the New Zealand Meat Board by the Minister of
Agriculture, Jim Sutton.
The two Government appointees will bring a wealth of experience and industry knowledge to the board, says Board
Chairman Jeff Grant.
“I’m looking forward to working closely with both Alastair and Brian, and I’m sure their knowledge for both agricultural
and international trade will be of value to the Board.”
Currently a consultant, Alastair Bisley previously worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, where as
Deputy Secretary, he was responsible for the Ministry’s Trade and Economic programme between 1994 and 1998. He was also
the Ministry’s Chief Trade Negotiator. Prior to this he was New Zealand’s Ambassador in Geneva from 1991 until 1994, and
held a range of positions and international postings with the Ministry including periods of secondment to other Public
Service Departments.
Brian Lynch is a member of the Board of the New Zealand Food Safety Authority, Director of the New Zealand Institute of
International Affairs at Victoria University, an alternate member of the NZ APEC Business Advisory Council, Chairman of
the Trade
Liberalisation Network and the NZ Food Industry Foundation based at Massey University. He was also recently appointed
Chairperson of the New Zealand Horticulture Export Authority.
Mr Lynch retired as CEO of the Meat Industry Association of NZ (MIA) last year, after 11 years of service. Before his
position with the MIA, he worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, where he held a number of postings
overseas including New York and Singapore, and London where he served as Deputy High Commissioner.
