Origin Pacific Withdraws Scheduled Services From Invercargill
Origin Pacific has announced that it will withdraw its scheduled services from Invercargill from 10 August, as part of a
review of the Airline’s Spring and Summer flight schedule.
Origin Pacific’s Marketing Director, Mike Pero, says the Airline is aware that this will leave Invercargill again
serviced by only one airline.
“Origin Pacific commenced services to Invercargill as part of a codeshare arrangement we had with Qantas,” said Pero.
“The termination of that arrangement in March has removed the opportunity for Origin to carry Qantas passengers flying
via Christchurch to international and domestic main trunk services.
“Air New Zealand has recently announced the introduction of further ATR services to Invercargill consolidating their
already dominant position. We have had no choice other than to review the network it operates to reflect this
situation.”
Pero said the move does not remove the possibility of Origin Pacific resuming a scheduled service to Invercargill in the
future. The Airline plans to maintain its facilities at Invercargill and will continue to operate charter services to
the southern city.
He pointed out that the Airline’s services to Dunedin are affected by the same circumstances and continue to be under
review.
Pero added that despite recent setbacks the Origin Pacific Board are encouraged by the hard work and enthusiasm of the
Airline’s management and staff. He said the Airline has also experienced tremendous support and loyalty from the public
all over the country.
