Corporate Travel Management Software Lands Technology Commendation
SERKO(r), produced by Interactive Technologies, was honoured with a prestigious Technology Commendation Award at a
ceremony held in Auckland today.
SERKO(r) is a suite of travel management tools which offer higher travel agent productivity and cheaper corporate travel
bookings as well as much greater control over the process of travel bookings and management.
It's these advantages which have led to SERKO(r) taking 60% corporate market share in New Zealand and achieving
significant sales success in overseas markets, says Interactive Technologies' Managing Director Bob Shaw.
He says the award reflects the innovative nature of the application as
well as the success of SERKO(r) in the market. "There's nothing that can match SERKO(r) in the Asia/Pacific region and,
through some major deals, we're being used on a global basis by some of the world's largest companies. This a great
success for a home-grown product."
Shaw says Interactive Technologies was able to develop the SERKO(r) Online product through the support of Technology New
Zealand. "A Technology New Zealand grant helped fund Interactive Technologies staff to be upskilled in E-Commerce
technologies, which we used to create SERKO(r) Online. And now we're using that increased E-Commerce capability to
develop further leading-edge products for the travel industry."
The Technology Commendation Awards are sponsored by the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology and are designed
to publicly recognise companies that have developed or applied new technology that has grown their business. With this
award SERKO(r) joins a select group of only 20 innovative New Zealand companies which have been commended since the
awards were established in 1999.
Prior to this award the SERKO(r) Online product won for Interactive Technologies the prestigious Asia-Pacific region
Microsoft US Award for E- Commerce.
