Dunbar Sloane Ltd 7 Maginnity St. Wellington are having a Major Antique Auction on Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th of
July.
This auction includes some rare NZ Historical items;
1 – Sterling Silver model of the vessel ‘Tutanekai’ gifted to the Prime Minister of the day and his wife, Sir Joseph and
Lady Ward on the occasion of their silver wedding anniversary 1908 made by the NZ silversmith Linnaeus Partridge.
2 – Maori Korowai Cloak made of flax with coloured wool border gifted by Karioi Maori to Samuel Cox C1880. Cox was Major
figure in the Tongariro area where he held the leasehold for the Tongariro National Park, owned a local store, post
office and various blocks of land. He was a noted breeder of race horses. His interest in horses saw him rounding up and
breaking in wild horses which were shipped off to the Boer War.
3 – Brass presentation padlock engraved “Unlocked by the Right Hon. R. J. Seddon P.C.L.L.D at the opening of THE OTAKI
BRIDGE May 21st 1901, John Davies County Chairman.
4 – An Illuminated address from the “Waiotapu Settlers Association” to the “Proprietors of the Evening Post” thanking
them for “spreading accurate and convincing information” about their local area C1900. All hand worked with handpainted
panels.
