Canon Inc., has promoted Tony Wills to the role of Managing Director of Canon New Zealand. Tony replaces Gordon Lamont who has been appointed to the role of Chairman, Canon New Zealand.
Prior to his promotion, Tony spent 18 months as National Manager of Canon New Zealand’s Business Imaging Solutions Group and for the 18 years prior to that was with Canon in the United Kingdom in both sales and marketing roles. He concluded his career as Director of Marketing prior to his return to New Zealand after 23 years abroad.
In New Zealand to announce the appointments, Mr Shuichi Tsukahara, Managing Director, Canon Australia Group, thanked Gordon for his 19 year contribution to Canon, particularly his 11 years at the helm of Canon New Zealand.
“On the back of a record year in 2003 both internationally and in New Zealand, Canon is in a very strong financial position and well placed to move to the next phase of its evolution,” said Mr Tsukahara.
Ongoing technological innovation and a strong customer relations programme were identified by Tony Wills as the two main factors that will drive this evolution.
“These are exciting times for Canon,” said Mr Wills. “I am pleased to be able to build upon the strong foundations laid by Gordon to take Canon in to the future and ensure it remains at the forefront of the markets in which it operates.”
