Chris Quin To Head Merged Organisation
Telecom’s Group General Manager Trans Tasman Solutions Chris Quin is to head Telecom’s information communications
technology services business post the merger of Gen-i and Telecom Advanced Solutions.
Telecom bought Gen-i from Cullen Investments on 1 July. Telecom Advanced Solutions and Gen-i are now going through a
merger process with the Gen-i brand to be retained for the new unit. The merger will create a business unit for
Telecom’s information communications technology solutions of 1300 plus people.
Quin has been with Telecom since June 1991 fulfilling a number of sales, operational and financial roles.
Telecom Chief Information Officer Mark Ratcliffe said today that Quin brought strong leadership skills and knowledge of
the information communications technology industry to the role.
“Chris has a strong understanding of what customers want in the information communications technology arena and he has
the skills to bring the best out of both Telecom Advanced Solutions and Gen-i to create this new organisation operating
under the Gen-i brand in the market,” Mr Ratcliffe said.
Gen-i’s current Chief Executive Officer Garth Biggs would, he said, continue to play a major role.
“Garth Biggs, backed by a great team of people, has taken Gen-i into a leadership position in the marketplace and we’d
like him to play a significant role in the future of the wider Telecom group.
“Garth will stay head of Gen-i until 31 December, gradually transferring responsibilities to Chris as the merger takes
shape. In the meantime, Chris will be in charge of Telecom Advanced Solutions and the merger process.
“I’m keen for Garth to stay on with Telecom after this time.”
Mr Ratcliffe praised both men for their professionalism during the ownership transition.
“Both Chris and Garth have shown real leadership and led by example during this process. It’s no wonder that both have
created such strong and successful customer focussed organisations with leaders who are some of the best in the
business.”
