Chief Executive To Stand Down
After an outstanding contribution to Federated Farmers of New Zealand (Inc), Chief Executive Tony St. Clair will step
down from his role of almost eight years at the end of 2004.
"Tony has been a very successful and effective Chief Executive, and his professionalism and expertise will be difficult
to match," said President Tom Lambie.
Mr St Clair helped restructure Federated Farmers in 1998, and under his leadership total membership has grown to around
18,500.
“Tony motivated an excellent team of professional staff throughout New Zealand who hold him in the highest regard,” said
Mr Lambie.
“I am pleased to leave the Federation in such good health and am looking forward to new challenges,” said Mr St. Clair.
“Federated Farmers accomplishments I am particularly proud of include significant progress in trade advocacy, vast
improvement in policy development, and the introduction of our freephone 0800 FARMING number, which takes in excess of
35,000 calls a year. The professional services we provide help to add value of the business of farming for our members,“
said Mr St. Clair.
The extended notice period will ensure a smooth and planned transition over the next six months.
“We are sad to see Tony leave Federated Farmers but wish him well in the future,” concluded Mr Lambie.
