For Immediate Release
Top Creative Director Tim Hanrahan from Wieden+Kennedy Portland is the Chairman of Judges at the 24th AXIS Awards.
The 24th AXIS Awards team has been finalised with the announcement of Wieden+Kennedy Portland’s Creative Director Tim Hanrahan as the Chairman of the main creative judging panel. Blackwood King & Partners (BKP) CEO Terry King has taken over the 2-year term as Chairman of AXIS and DDB’s Creative Director Paul Catmur takes on the role of Convenor of Judges.
Paul Catmur says that “Wieden + Kennedy have long been among the most respected agencies in the world, both on account of the work that they do and the agency culture that they represent. Their long-lasting campaign for Nike has changed the way the world looks at advertising and hopefully Tim will give us a few tips.”
“We're very lucky to have found a hole in Tim's diary big enough to allow him to come down to New Zealand. He has done some wonderful work and I believe he will bring a fresh, unjaundiced eye to judge the best of the work we do here.”
Judging commences next week with visiting Creative Director, Garry Horner, DDB Sydney lending more weight to the already strong panel of judges. Gary Horner was the co-creator of the Hamlet 'Photo booth' ad, which was judged commercial of the century in the UK.
Tim Hanrahan began his advertising career as an art director at Humphrey Browning McDougall (now known as Arnold Communications) and followed up with a stint at Hill, Holiday, Connors, Cosmopulos in Boston.
In 1993 he loosened up, moved west and started working at Wieden+Kennedy. Since then he has worked on Nike, ESPN, PowerAde, Amazon.com, Miller Beer, AOL and The American Indian College Fund. Over the past few years his contributions on new business pitches helped W+K win Microsoft, Alta Vista, Sam Adams Beer and Belvedere Vodka.
Current work includes PowerAde featuring LeBron James, AOLs Top Speed Super Bowl campaign and Miller Beers President of Beers campaign.
For R he relies on motorcycling, rock climbing, soccer and bicycling as a respite from the challenging world of advertising. The One Show, D, Cannes Gold Lion, CA and The New York Art Directors Club have recognized his work.
Tim will be showing his reel next Tuesday 18th May at Coast. Contact melissa@caanz.co.nz or ph 09 303 0435 for ticket bookings. Spaces are limited.
