Year of the Lovemark
To: Saatchikevin.com Global Community
From: Kevin Roberts, CEO, Saatchi & Saatchi
I promised folks that 2004 would be the Year of the Lovemark. Now it's officially declared. After five years creative development, fine tuning and finessing, Lovemarks: the Future Beyond Brands is now a book, and is available throughout the world.
It's personal. It's radically optimistic. It's for consumers everywhere. It's for all people who love the 'I's and 'E's: Ideas, Imagination, Intuition, Insight, Inspiration. Empathy, Enchantment, Excitement, Edge, Emotion. And it's for anyone who makes or markets things they hope people will love.
I've just done a month as an "author" - dozens of TV, radio and magazine interviews. A signing at Barnes & Noble, Chelsea, in New York. An NYC launch party. We've now launched in the US and the UK. This week we launch New Zealand and Australia. Bulgaria, Hungary, Spain, Brazil, Sweden, Denmark, France and others to follow, with China and Japan in line. I'm giving the clichéd Local/Global debate a work out. It's Act local; Go global!!
I'm rapt that the book is getting traction, including in universities as a learning tool. So rock on to your local book store or Amazon.com for your personal copy. A free copy goes to the five most inspiring Lovemark nominations from our community before 15 May. To be in to win, nominate at Lovemarks.com, and identify yourself as 'member@saatchikevin.com' at the end of your nomination. Winning contributions will be those that resonate with mystery, sensuality and intimacy.
Lovemarks.com is roaring. We've had over a thousand Lovemark contributions from 83 countries. For an update on site happenings, including the Win a Toyota Prius competition (entries closing soon), see: http://www.lovemarks.com/
For something completely different, see my April 15 Miami challenge to the conference of the American Advertising Agencies Association. This event was important because I want to see creative agencies at the heart of modern corporations. The role of business is to make the world a better place and creativity is absolutely vital to this. http://www.saatchikevin.com/talkingit/aaaa_miami.html
These ideas - including Future of TV, OnScreen/InStore, Media Outlook, Ideas Compensation, Talent, Globalization and 'Watchability' are now in a video interview on the site: http://www.saatchikevin.com/talkingit/multimedia.html.
The Olympics is in view and Saatchi & Saatchi has the honor of globalizing friendship, fair play, and inspiration on behalf of the International Olympic Committee. Coming soon to a TV near you... 2004 is a year to celebrate humanity. Follow your dream. Make a difference.
