Fonterra Changes Positive
Fonterra’s decision to rationalise staff should signal improved efficiency and a return to core business, says Kevin Wooding, Chairman of Dairy Farmers of New Zealand (DFNZ).
Dairy Farmers of New Zealand is an industry group of Federated Farmers of New Zealand (Inc).
Fonterra has announced plans to cut 700 administrative jobs over the next two years.
“Dairy farmers need improved returns. When Fonterra was created it set out to cut duplication and reduce administration.
“Fonterra’s centralisation was designed to deliver greater efficiency. Although redundancies are never easy, efficiency had to be delivered, and should have been done a long time ago.
“Dairy farmers look forward to Fonterra focusing on their core business of milk processing and to an improved payout,” Mr Wooding concluded.
